Connecting Skode CRM to ChatGPT lets you query your sales pipeline, leads, contacts, invoices, and e-commerce data using natural language inside ChatGPT. This guide walks you through the entire setup process, from prerequisites to your first query, in under five minutes.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- An active Skode CRM account on any paid plan (Starter, Professional, or Enterprise). Free plan users can activate a 14-day AI connector trial from Settings.
- A ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise subscription (the free ChatGPT plan does not support plugins).
- Admin or Manager role in Skode CRM (required to generate API keys).
Step 1: Generate Your Skode API Key
Log in to your Skode CRM dashboard. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > AI Connectors. Click New Connection and select ChatGPT from the platform list. Click Generate API Key. Copy the key immediately — it will only be displayed once. If you lose it, you can revoke and regenerate a new one.
Step 2: Install the Skode CRM Plugin in ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT and navigate to Settings > Plugins (or GPTs > Explore if using a custom GPT). Search for "Skode CRM" in the plugin store. Click Install, then Connect. When prompted, paste your Skode API key and click Authorize.
Step 3: Verify the Connection
Start a new ChatGPT conversation and type: "Show me my open deals in Skode CRM." If the connection is working, ChatGPT will query your CRM and return a list of your open deals with stage, value, and contact information. If you see an authorization error, double-check that your API key is correct and that your Skode CRM plan includes AI connectors.
Step 4: Set Your Default Scope
Back in Skode CRM, go to Settings > AI Connectors > ChatGPT and configure the default data scope. You can allow access to all modules (leads, deals, contacts, invoices, e-commerce) or restrict to specific modules. You can also set the connector to respect individual user permissions, so each team member only sees their own data when they connect their personal ChatGPT account.

Troubleshooting
"Plugin not found" in ChatGPT
The Skode CRM plugin requires ChatGPT Plus or higher. Free accounts do not have plugin access. If you are on a paid plan and still cannot find it, try searching for "Skode" without "CRM" or check the ChatGPT plugin store directly at chat.openai.com/plugins.
"Authorization failed" error
This usually means your API key has expired or been revoked. Go to Skode CRM > Settings > AI Connectors, revoke the old key, generate a new one, and reconnect in ChatGPT.
"No data returned" for a query
Check your data scope settings. If the connector is set to respect user permissions, make sure the Skode CRM user account linked to the API key has access to the data you are querying. Also confirm that the module (e.g., invoices, e-commerce) is enabled in your connector scope.
Slow responses
Large datasets (10,000+ records) may take a few extra seconds. Try narrowing your query with date ranges or filters: "Show deals from March 2026" instead of "Show all deals."
