Time Tracking

The practice of recording how much time is spent on tasks, projects, or client work — typically for billing, payroll, or productivity analysis.

In a CRM context, time tracking lets professional services firms, agencies, and consultants log billable hours directly within their CRM. This eliminates the need for separate time tracking tools and enables one-click invoice generation from time entries.

Features typically include timer widgets for real-time tracking, manual time entry for past work, billable vs. non-billable categorization, and project/task linking.

Why Time Tracking in CRM Matters

  • Accurate Billing — bill clients based on actual time spent
  • Profitability Analysis — see which clients and projects are profitable
  • Resource Planning — understand team capacity and utilization
