# Tags and smart tagging

> Tags in Skode CRM are labels you put on profiles to group them (for example “USA”, “NCLEX”, “hot”). Add them from the profile page, or set up smart tagging rules in Settings → Data quality so profiles matching a condition are tagged automatically.

Tags answer “which of my people are…?” — and smart tagging keeps the answer up to date on its own.

## Step 1: Tag one profile

On a profile page, click the tag area in the header, type the tag, press Enter. Existing tags autocomplete so spellings stay consistent.

## Step 2: See everyone with a tag

In the **Profiles** list, filter by tag. Combine tags to narrow further.

## Step 3: Let rules do it — smart tagging

In **Settings -> Data quality -> Smart tagging**, create a rule: when a profile matches a condition, the tag is applied automatically.
